DOOM 4
Overview
DOOM 4 is an upcoming First-Person Shooter by id Software that hails from the historic DOOM franchise. DOOM 4 is being developed in the same technology behind RAGE. However, due to my Non-Disclosure Agreement, further information about DOOM 4 is confidential pending its release. DOOM 4 does not yet have an official release date.
I was an Associate Technical Designer on the DOOM Single Player team at id Software, responsible for scripting levels on the single-player campaign of DOOM 4. I worked on the game for 11 months during its pre-Alpha stage, including the development of a Vertical Slice level and multiple other playable levels. DOOM 4 was developed in the id Tech 5 engine. Its levels were edited in id Studio (also known as Radiant) and scripted in a combination of C++ and id Studio’s entity-based scripting system. I designed and scripted the opening cinematic sequence in the vertical slice level at Beta stage. I fixed deprecated scripting for combat and cinematic events in 4 levels at Alpha stage. I clipped environments for sound throughout 2 levels. I clipped environments for player collision and AI pathing in a section of a level. I programmed a script object for use by designers which controlled a specific particle effect. I designed, built and scripted a tutorial level for use in playtesting the Vertical Slice level. I also wrote design tutorials for script objects.
